Farrah Pepper is Of Counsel in the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, practicing in the firm’s Litigation Department.  Ms. Pepper is Vice Chair of the firm’s Electronic Discovery and Information Law Practice Group.  She is also a member of the Crisis Management and the White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice Groups.

Electronic Discovery and Information Law

Ms. Pepper’s litigation practice is dedicated to electronic discovery and information law issues, with a focus on providing cost-effective and defensible strategies and solutions in these areas to her clients.  Her practice spans a wide breadth of client industries and substantive areas of law, with a particular emphasis on complex civil litigation and regulatory, white collar criminal and internal investigations.  

Ms. Pepper provides clients with legal services and strategic advice relating to the preservation, collection, processing, review, analysis and production of all types of electronically stored information, both domestically and abroad.  Ms. Pepper also consults with clients on topics related to electronic discovery, including the development of litigation readiness plans, information management practices and technology usage policies.

In 2006, Ms. Pepper founded a task force at Gibson Dunn—the Electronic Data Discovery Initiative—focused on electronic discovery, information law and records management.  Ms. Pepper served as the chairperson of the task force from its inception through its conversion into the Electronic Discovery and Information Law Practice Group in January 2010.  Ms. Pepper is the Vice Chair of the Electronic Discovery and Information Law Practice Group.

Ms. Pepper frequently publishes and speaks on the topics of electronic discovery and information law.  In addition, Ms. Pepper regularly provides training sessions in electronic discovery and information law within the firm and to client audiences.  Ms. Pepper is a member of various industry organizations, including The Sedona Conference® Working Group 1 on Electronic Document Retention and Production, The Sedona Conference® Working Group 6 on International Electronic Information Management, Discovery and Disclosure, the American Bar Association (ABA) Committee on E-Discovery and Digital Evidence, the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) Committee on Electronic Discovery and the New York chapter of Women in eDiscovery. 

Pro Bono and Community Involvement

Ms. Pepper is a member of the firm's national Pro Bono Committee.  She is also a founding member of the New York office's Community Affairs Committee.  Ms. Pepper served as the associate Pro Bono Coordinator in the New York office from February 2007 through April 2009.

Ms. Pepper serves on the advisory board of Legal Outreach, Inc., a non-profit legal educational organization. Ms. Pepper is a recipient of the 2008 Above & Beyond Pro Bono Achievement Award, given by Sanctuary for Families in recognition of her pro bono work on behalf of victims of domestic violence and their children.

Education and Bar Admissions

Ms. Pepper graduated from New York University Law School in 2001, where she was a Dean's Scholar and an editor on the moot court board.  Ms. Pepper was the winner of the 15th Annual University of Minnesota National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Politics from New York University in 1998, where she was a University Scholar.  She graduated summa cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Ms. Pepper is admitted to practice in the State of New York, as well as in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
