A partner in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, Ms. Hemminger's practice is national in scope and includes all aspects of labor and employment law, representing management.   She has represented employers in a wide variety of litigated matters in the judicial, administrative and arbitration forums, including high-profile cases in the areas of disability discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, sexual harassment, the constitutionality of private-sector applicant drug testing and challenges to ergonomics regulations.   Her practice also includes counseling, policy development and negotiations.  Areas of expertise include federal and state wage and hour law, federal and state discrimination laws, occupational safety and health issues, leaves of absence and disability management issues, wrongful termination, privacy, employment-related torts, ERISA, executive employment agreements and compensation issues, union-management relations, and employment aspects of corporate mergers and acquisitions.  Ms. Hemminger is also a member of the Firm's Executive Compensation and Privacy practice groups. 

Ms. Hemminger is a frequent author and lecturer on labor and employment law issues.  She is a contributing author of Employment Discrimination Law (settlement chapter) (BNA, Third Edition and supplements; Fourth Edition forthcoming), Sexual Harassment in Employment Law (settlement chapter) (BNA, 1992), and California Practice Guide:  Employment Litigation (leaves of absence and worker safety and health chapters) (Rutter Group, 2001 and supplements).

A past chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association (1996-97), Ms. Hemminger has chaired many of its functions.  She is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers (1999-present), and has served as the management co-chair of the Ethics and Professionalism Committee, the national programs subcommittee of the Programs Committee, and currently, the Grants and Sponsorship Committee of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the American Bar Association (1999-2000).  She is on the special Employment Dispute Resolution panel of the American Arbitration Association for Southern California and serves on the Board of Directors of the non-profit Dispute Resolution Services (1999-present).  Appointments include the California Comparable Worth Task Force (appointed by Gov. Deukmejian, 1984) and the California Law Revision Commission (appointed by Gov. Wilson, 1998-1999, and Gov. Schwarzenegger, 2005-present); she currently serves as Chair.  In 1996, Ms. Hemminger was named Alumnus of the Year by the Pepperdine University School of Law.  She is included in current and past editions of "The Best Lawyers In America," "Chambers USA America's Leading Business Lawyers," and Euromoney's "Guide to the World's Leading Labour and Employment Lawyers."

Ms. Hemminger graduated from Pomona College, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, in 1971 and from Pepperdine University School of Law, magna cum laude, in 1976.
