James C. Ho to Serve as Solicitor General of Texas 

Of counsel James C. Ho will be appointed by the Texas Attorney General as the new Solicitor General of Texas. As the state's chief appellate lawyer, he will lead the state's Office of the Solicitor General, overseeing both criminal and civil litigation before state and federal appellate courts and representing Texas before the U.S. Supreme Court. Jim has previously served in all three branches of government at the state and federal level. Most notably, he served as chief counsel to Senator John Cornyn of Texas from 2003 to 2005. He worked at the U.S. Department of Justice, first as Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights and then as an attorney-adviser in the Office of Legal Counsel, from 2001 to 2003. He was a law clerk for Judge Jerry E. Smith of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit from 1999 to 2000, and for Justice Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court during October Term 2005.
