Arthur D. Pasternak, co-partner in charge of the Washington, D.C. office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, joined the firm in 1983.  He is the Chair of the firm's Tax Practice Group and focuses on advice to foreign corporations and individuals regarding real estate investments and corporate acquisitions in the United States and Europe; U.S. clients with respect to international activities; and domestic corporations and partnerships on U.S. tax issues generally.

Prior to joining the firm's Tax Department full time, Mr. Pasternak practiced in both the Tax Department and in the Corporations Department, where he concentrated in mergers and acquisitions and in transactions involving major financial institutions.

Mr. Pasternak was the primary lawyer responsible for a taxpayer victory upholding an international tax structure involving the receipt and payment of royalties by a foreign corporation including royalties received from an affiliated U.S. corporation.

Mr. Pasternak is a member of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher's Diversity Committee.  He received his law degree from Yale Law School and graduated magna cum laude in 1979 from Brown University, where he majored in mathematics.
