Gibson Dunn Adds Patent Litigator Bill Rooklidge in Orange County

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that William (Bill) Rooklidge is joining the Orange County office as a partner.  Formerly with Jones Day, Rooklidge will continue to practice intellectual property law with a focus on patent litigation.

About Bill Rooklidge

For the past 30 years, Rooklidge has represented clients in intellectual property litigation and related counseling and has handled cases that addressed a broad range of technologies and industries.  He also has extensive experience in trademark litigation and enforcement of intellectual property through U.S. Customs and Border Protection.   

He is an experienced trial lawyer, having first-chaired multiple jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations.  He also has extensive appellate experience and has argued many patent cases before the Federal Circuit.  He has served as president of the Orange County Patent Law Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.  

Before joining Gibson Dunn, he was a partner at Jones Day.  

Rooklidge received his law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1984 and his LL.M. in Patent and Trade Regulation Law from The George Washington University in 1985.  He earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Portland in 1979.  From 1985 to 1987, he clerked for Judge Helen W. Nies of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
