Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that Ryan Bergsieker has joined the firm as of counsel in the Denver office. Bergsieker joins the firm’s litigation and white collar practices.
Before joining Gibson Dunn, Bergsieker served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Colorado. During that time, he coordinated the District’s computer hacking prosecutions, advised federal agencies on electronic surveillance law, and investigated and prosecuted a wide range of crimes, including computer intrusions, denial of service attacks, theft of proprietary business information, identity theft, pharmaceutical misbranding, wire fraud, mail fraud and murder. He led dozens of criminal investigations, tried 15 cases to verdict and argued multiple appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Drawing on his experience, he has lectured extensively on cybercrime, electronic surveillance and other criminal law topics.
Bergsieker graduated from Princeton University in 1998 with an A.B. from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He received his J.D. in 2004 from Yale Law School. After graduating from law school, Bergsieker clerked for Judge David M. Ebel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Before becoming a prosecutor, Bergsieker practiced as a civil litigator at a large Denver law firm, where he handled a variety of trial and appellate matters.
