Supreme Court Round-Up: A Summary of Upcoming Arguments and Other Developments (October 2017)

October 2, 2017

As the Supreme Court begins its 2017 Term, Gibson Dunn’s Supreme Court Round-Up provides summaries of the questions presented in the cases that the Court will hear this Term as well as other key developments on the Court’s docket.  Gibson Dunn presented 2 arguments during the 2016 Term, securing wins for clients in both cases, and was involved in 11 additional cases as counsel for amici curiae.  To date, the Court has granted certiorari in 37 cases for the 2017 Term, and Gibson Dunn is counsel for the petitioner in 2 of those cases.

Spearheaded by former Solicitor General Theodore B. Olson, the Supreme Court Round-Up keeps clients apprised of the Court’s most recent actions.  The Round-Up previews cases scheduled for argument, tracks the actions of the Office of the Solicitor General, and recaps recent opinions.  The Round-Up provides a concise, substantive analysis of the Court’s actions.  Its easy-to-use format allows the reader to identify what is on the Court’s docket at any given time, and to see what issues the Court will be taking up next.  The Round-Up is the ideal resource for busy practitioners seeking an in-depth, timely, and objective report on the Court’s actions.

Gibson Dunn’s Appellate and Constitutional Law Practice Group is one of the nation’s leading appellate practices.  The preeminence of the group is underscored by its placement on The National Law Journal‘s 2016 Appellate Hot List, which recognized 20 firms that “delivered—winning big in federal and state appeals courts across the country”—while “represent[ing] some of the most well-known companies in the land.”  Benchmark Litigation recognized Gibson Dunn as its 2017 Appellate Firm of the Year, and Law360 named Gibson Dunn a 2016 Appellate Practice Group of the Year.  In addition, U.S. News – Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” recognized Gibson Dunn as the 2016 Law Firm of the Year for its Appellate Practice.  Acclaimed as a litigation powerhouse, Gibson Dunn also was recognized as The American Lawyer‘s 2016 Litigation Department of the Year, our unprecedented third win in this biennial competition since 2010.  The publication noted, “Gibson Dunn litigators set out to win big rather than just escape defeat, and they succeeded. . . . [T]he firm repeatedly delivered when it mattered most.”  Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business also ranked Gibson Dunn in Tier 1 in 2017 for Nationwide Appellate Law.
