Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that Jose W.  Fernandez, the former Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs, has joined the firm as a partner in the New York office.  During his tenure, Fernandez led the bureau that was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the State Department's commercial diplomacy worldwide.  At Gibson Dunn, he will focus his practice on mergers and acquisitions and finance in emerging markets in Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that it has named Katie Marquart as the firm’s new Pro Bono Director.  Marquart, who was most recently a litigation associate in the firm’s Los Angeles office, will manage and coordinate Gibson Dunn’s pro bono efforts on a firmwide level.  In her new role, Marquart will help lead the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, assist in pro bono training and staffing, serve as an internal resource for attorneys seeking guidance on existing pro bono matters and act as a liaison with public interest organizations in the community.

Gibson Dunn Adds Former Federal Prosecutor to Denver Office

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that Ryan Bergsieker has joined the firm as of counsel in the Denver office.  Bergsieker joins the firm’s litigation and white collar practices.Before joining Gibson Dunn, Bergsieker served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Colorado.  During that time, he coordinated the District’s computer hacking prosecutions, advised federal agencies on electronic surveillance law, and investigated and prosecuted a wide range of crimes, including computer intrusions, denial of service attacks, theft of proprietary business information, identity theft, pharmaceutical misbranding, wire fraud, mail fraud and murder.  He led dozens of criminal investigations, tried 15 cases to verdict and argued multiple appeal

Ali Nikpay, Senior Director at the UK’s Office of Fair Trading, to Join Gibson Dunn’s Competition Practice
