Based in Los Angeles or Century City, the event planner will be responsible for all activities relating to the development, negotiation, execution and follow-through of external firm and client events hosted or related to our West Coast offices. This position will work closely with the relevant client development contacts with ownership of the tactical event-related details and execution of substantive and relationship client facing events.

For the assigned offices, this role will oversee all client facing relationship building events/entertainment, including a suite of sporting/event tickets, as well as executing substantive client events including CLEs, virtual events and select conference sponsorships. Working with the relevant business development leads, the event planner will work with the partner stakeholders to ensure an on-point client experience and seamless execution. As applicable, they will also assist with 501(c)(3) activities.

Additionally, the event planner will work with the broader event team to advance and streamline processes, create efficiencies across the function and elevate the overall look and feel of our client facing events.

This role will report to the Senior Manager of Events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the relevant client development leads and partners to create unique client entertainment opportunities aimed at relationship building, including closing dinners, social outings, usage of firm tickets, client give aways and other touch points.
  • Working with relevant client development leads, contribute to the creation and execution of substantive client facing events that showcase the firm’s legal and industry capabilities.
  • Overseeing and handling, with the event team’s assistant, the relevant sport and event tickets to venues located in proximity to Gibson Dunn West Coast offices.
  • Sourcing, negotiating, coordinating and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, restaurants and venues.
  • Managing relevant office event related quick reference guides.
  • Managing 501(c)(3) processes and related implementation as applicable for assigned offices.
  • Contributing to advancing systems, processes and efficiencies for the events function and overall Marketing & Client Development Department.
  • Special projects, as assigned.

Experience

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 5+ years of experience in professional services industry, legal preferred
  • Experience with strategic event planning and execution

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $100-115k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
