Based in New York, the Finance Practice Support Paralegal will work collaboratively with practice group leaders to further the Firm’s overall and Global Finance Practice’s specific strategic objectives through involvement with the practice group’s day-to-day operations and administration across US offices, including: leading the finance paralegal program, matter staffing, training & development, knowledge management and business development.

This role reports to the Manager of Paralegal Services and will work directly with the Co-Chairs of the Global Finance Practice Group and various Firm administrators.

Responsibilities include:

 

Leading the finance paralegal program:

  • Work with the Manager, Paralegal Services on formulating and refining finance paralegal program
  • Training, developing and supervising finance paralegals in partnership with the Manager, Paralegal Services.
  • Supervising US personal property collateral management, including lien searches, UCC filings and post-closing collateral requirements
  • Evaluating finance paralegals and coordinate with practice group leaders to maximize paralegal utilization
  • Identifying finance paralegal needs, interviewing and hiring finance paralegals, managing orientation and onboarding of new finance paralegals.  Coordinate all recruiting and on-boarding efforts with the Manager, Paralegal Services.
 Staffing & Productivity:
  • Support finance practice with operational resource allocation and productivity management
  • Work with partners regarding staffing needs for attorneys and paralegals
  • Monitor time and attorney availability to assist with effective resource allocation
  • Balance staffing needs with client service considerations, associate preferences and career development goals
 Training & Development:
  • Work with practice group leaders to develop and run practice group meetings and training programs
  • Work with practice group leaders, marketing and business development teams to plan and coordinate client training programs
  • Work with Professional Development team to help finance associates achieve their professional goals

Knowledge Management & Business Development:

  • Work collaboratively with Knowledge Management team to develop and implement best practices for internal knowledge management
  • Work collaboratively with practice group leaders and Knowledge Management team on market-based knowledge management program and related special projects
  • Assist with tracking pertinent caselaw and legal developments
  • Work with Business Development and Marketing to facilitate cross-practice group collaboration on new business initiatives
  • Work with Business Development and Marketing teams to keep updated on group successes

Administration & General:

  • Coordinate group mentoring and morale activities and events
  • Collaborate with Practice Group Managers for other groups to develop areas of mutual interest
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, as needed
  • Promote diversity, equity & inclusion goals and other strategic areas of emphasis

Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively with others, particularly senior-level members of the Firm
  • Ability to teach junior level paralegals and attorneys
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Problem-solver with ability to proactively identify issues and recommend constructive solutions
  • Ability to coordinate several projects at once
  • Highly organized and effective project manager with proven ability to delegate and supervise

Experience

  • University degree
  • 3+ years as a finance paralegal or finance paralegal manager or practice group manager, in any case at a medium-sized or large law firm

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $140-175k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
