Based in London or any of our US Offices, the International Tax Manager is responsible for maintaining firm-wide tax compliance in the jurisdictions in which we operate, with a focus on the offices in Europe and the Middle East, and the US tax impact of international developments.

This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will liaise with multiple departments within the firms, as well as external contacts (global tax advisors, partners’ accountants and various tax authorities).

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing coordination, preparation, and issuance of the Firm’s Global tax returns as well as assisting with international US tax compliance and consulting projects.
  • Providing tax support to the Firm’s Global partners and their advisors, addressing their requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Coordinating and managing Global tax inquiries, audits and communication with tax authorities.
  • Proactively leading tax research projects and maintaining current knowledge of tax regulations affecting the partnership in the relevant jurisdictions.
  • Monitoring proposed changes in tax laws, evaluating their impact on the partnership, and subsequently making recommendations.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, and working with key personnel on various special projects.
  • Reviewing and providing recommendations on global mobility issues.
  • Developing and implementing tax accounting methodology and business processes.
  • Driving process improvements, utilizing technology to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience as an effective team member as well as building and leading teams.
  • Capable of managing multiple assignments and taking ownership of key responsibilities.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and a methodical, detail-oriented approach in completing assignments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Candidate is expected to be able to communicate effectively with partners and the highest level of management in a professional manner.
  • Must have ‘can do’ attitude and willing to do what it takes to meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to perform research on tax laws and regulations for various jurisdictions and different types of tax.
  • Knowledge of US expatriate and foreign national taxation, tax equalizations, and global tax reporting requirements on individual level is desired.
  • Knowledge of international VAT/GST, business, property, sales/use, and excise taxation in addition to income tax is desired.
  • Ability to critically assess advice received from US and non-US outside providers.

Experience

  • 7+ years of solid international tax experience with strong experience in partnership and individual taxation with a Big 4 Accounting Firm and/or a Multinational Law Firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • MS or advanced degree desirable.
  • Certified Public Accountant or ACA/ACCA/CTA qualification desirable.
  • Highly proficient technical skills in MS Office (Word and Advanced Excel).
  • Solid experience with global partnership taxation and reporting requirements, including preparation, and review of partners’ US Schedule K-1.
