Based in any US office (New York preferred), the Knowledge Attorney will be responsible for supporting the Litigation Practice Group’s knowledge management initiatives. This includes developing, implementing, and maintaining KM resources to enhance efficiency and optimize client service. The role involves creating and executing strategies to collect, organize, and disseminate the firm’s legal knowledge and expertise.
As part of the Knowledge Management and Innovation Group, this position collaborates across offices, practice groups, and administrative teams—including Research Library Services, Marketing and Business Development, and Information Technology—to drive KM initiatives. The Knowledge Attorney must uphold professionalism and maintain strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters.
This role reports to the Chief Legal Operations Officer.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring global legal, market, regulatory, and industry developments and preparing concise briefings on key updates to be shared with relevant practice members (including in pitches, newsletters, client presentations, client alerts, and blog posts).
- Reviewing and updating standard templates, forms, and precedents to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency with current laws and regulations.
- Conducting legal research and analysis on diverse topics and sharing findings and insights with relevant teams or practice groups.
- Leading meetings and presentations as appropriate to promote knowledge systems and platforms.
- Identifying, drafting, and maintaining standard forms, precedents, and guidance materials in the Litigation practice.
- Coordinating and monitoring relevant knowledge management projects, leveraging the engagement of practicing attorneys to create high-caliber resources and incorporate practice and market experience.
- Responding to inquiries from client-facing lawyers with thorough and timely answers, developing a reputation as a go-to expert for Litigation matters within the Firm, drafting and reviewing client documents as needed, and providing legal research capabilities for the Litigation groups.
- Developing and maintaining substantive content relevant to the Practice Groups’ marketing and business development efforts, including client presentations, case studies, and market surveys; aligning KM efforts with strategic business goals; developing and maintaining client extranets and other client service initiatives.
- Serving as a source of legal, market, and practical expertise, regularly reviewing internal and publicly available transaction agreements and market studies to identify market trends, keeping current on relevant case law and statutes, responding timely to queries, and informing the Practice Groups of substantive legal developments.
- Identifying and collecting key data points of the Practice Groups’ legal work for statistical analysis, post-deal assessments, and benchmarking.
- Assisting practitioners in locating practice-related internal and external knowledge resources and technologies.
- Capturing feedback for continuous improvement of KM products and processes.
- Developing workflows leveraging Practice Group resources and technologies to promote efficiency in common matter types.
- Providing ongoing individual and group lawyer and staff training on KM tools, resources, and best practices.
- Evaluating new and innovative KM and research tools and resources based on Practice Group needs and participating in technology pilots and assessments.
- Producing and curating knowledge management reports as needed to facilitate insights and inquiries into Practice Group and deal study metrics.

- Ability to work independently to solve problems relating to both technical issues and situations involving the coordination of, and collaboration with, attorneys, non-attorney staff and different administrative departments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
Experience
- A J.D., Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent with strong academic credentials; must be admitted to practice and in good standing in the state where they will be based.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Litigation.
- Preferred candidates will have experience in knowledge management, including creating and maintaining templates, models, sample documents, state surveys, and similar resources.
- Ideal candidates will also have experience developing, testing, and training for technology-driven tools and initiatives, including client-facing solutions.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $240-280k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
