Based in New York or Washington, D.C., the Lateral Conflict Analyst role includes, but is not limited to: 1) assisting the firm’s Office of General Counsel in the review and processing of lateral conflict reports and clearances, 2) searching internal proprietary databases, and 3) selecting and analyzing the conflicts results while highlighting critical issues and communicating this information directly with Firm partners.

The position requires acute attention to detail, as well as organizational and researching capabilities. The Lateral Conflict Analyst role will need to understand legal conflicts, related ethical rules, and current developments in professional services risk management. This position is responsible for upholding the standards of quality, consistency, accuracy, thoroughness, and customer service as defined and implemented by the New Business Intake and Conflicts Departments.

This position reports to the Intake/Conflicts Manager and will work closely with the firm’s Office of General Counsel, Firm attorneys, other Conflict Analysts, the Intake/Conflicts Manager, and other members of the New Business Intake and Conflicts Departments.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the firm’s Office of General Counsel to resolve apparent conflicts regarding incoming lateral partners, associates, and staff.
  • Review intake requests to ensure clarity in regards to the matter for the new or existing client.
  • Conduct research on new intake requests against the Firm’s conflicts database and other resources.
  • Verify that all conflicts reports are complete, consistent and accurate and adhere to established standards and procedures for all conflicts of interest searches performed Firm-wide.
  • Evaluate conflicts reports and clear potential conflicts according to Firm policies.
  • Communicate, follow-up and escalate conflict issues to the Office of General Counsel, Firm attorneys, the Intake/Conflicts Manager, and other Firm personnel as necessary.
  • Assist the New Business Intake and Conflicts Departments with a wide range of research and other requests as may be assigned.
  • Assist in the training and development of other Conflict Analysts and/or Conflicts Clerks.
  • Contribute to process, procedure, and technology improvements to provide optimum customer service and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with other Conflict Analysts and other team members in order to meet deadlines, time-sensitive issues and other challenges.

Experience

  • University degree.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Conflict Analyst in a large firm preferable as well as studies in areas directly applicable to the duties described above (e.g., paralegal/legal assistant).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite as well as web-based systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with CMS/Aderant, Dun & Bradstreet, and Hoovers a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $75-85k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
