Based in New York or Los Angeles, the Client Development Manager will be for driving the business development and visibility initiatives and priorities for the Corporate Finance, Restructuring, Derivatives and Fintech practices, as well as other practices and lawyers as needed. For their group of transactional practices, the Client Development Manager will be responsible for providing guidance and input on business planning (including target lists, high impact client relationships, publishing and speaking opportunities, and all other related initiatives).

Along with other team members, including but not limited to the Global Proposals Team, this position will lead on related pitches and RFPs ensuring that the firm is strategic in its approach to winning new business. This role will also work closely with business development colleagues to lead cross-practice initiatives, contribute to team infrastructure, and all other strategic projects as needed.

The role reports to the Sr. Client Development Manager and is supported by a Client Development Specialist.



  • Lead the overall business development and marketing efforts for assigned practices and/or regions as well as providing support for individual partner business objectives.
  • Support the practices key client efforts and work with colleagues to ensure the identification, development, and growth of high-value clients.
  • Manage preparation of pitches, RFPs (with RFP proposals team) and other client facing materials including leading strategy sessions, internal debriefs and tracking outcomes.
  • Spearhead the drafting and maintaining of practice-specific marketing materials and collateral including deal lists and the collection of relevant matters.
  • Lead relevant directory submissions including Chambers, Legal 500, IFLR as well as contribute to the drafting of relevant award submissions.
  • Collaborate with functional managers on relevant visibility and speaking opportunities, communications, recognition, and digital marketing initiatives.
  • Plan and oversee seminars, events (with the events team), and other targeted marketing activities.
  • Proactively drive experience collection and contribute to the submission of league tables.
  • Assist Sr. Manager with team management (including direct management of one report) and contribute to the development and advancement of junior marketing team members.
  • Act as a lead on additional related projects within the Department or Firm as assigned.


  • Exceptional professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with lawyers at varying levels, including firm leadership.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong project management and time management skills.
  • Solid understanding of the needs and expectations of law firms and the ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities and many constituents.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Exceptional in Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word PowerPoint).
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.


  • University degree.
  • 5-7 years of experience in professional services, legal preferred.
  • 2+ years of team management experience preferred.
  • Experience with strategic business development planning and pitching, with transactional knowledge preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $160-170k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
