Based in Los Angeles, the Client Development Manager will be responsible for client development and visibility initiatives for the transactional Media & Entertainment, Life Sciences, and Technology practices. This role also involves collaborating with the broader M&A team to support domestic M&A and Private Equity partners. Additional support for other practices and lawyers will be provided as needed.

For their group of transactional practices, the Client Development Manager will be responsible for providing guidance and input on the business plan (including target lists, high impact client relationships, publishing and speaking opportunities, and other related initiatives) and drive execution. Along with other team members, this position will lead on related pitches and RFPs ensuring the firm is strategic in its approach and positioning itself to win the work. This role will also work closely with Client Development colleagues to lead cross-practice initiatives, contribute to team infrastructure and other strategic projects as needed.

The role reports into the Associate Director of Client Development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the overall business development and marketing efforts for assigned practices and/or regions as well as providing support for individual partner business objectives.
  • Supporting the practice’s key client efforts and working with colleagues to ensure the identification, development, and growth of high-value clients.
  • Leading and overseeing preparation of pitches, RFPs (with RFP team) and other client-facing materials including leading strategy sessions, internal debriefs, and tracking outcomes.
  • Spearheading the drafting and maintaining of practice-specific marketing materials and collateral including deal lists and the collection of relevant matters.
  • Collaborating with functional managers on relevant visibility and speaking opportunities, communications, recognition, directory participation, and digital marketing initiatives.
  • Planning and overseeing seminars, events (with the events team), and other targeted marketing activities.
  • Acting as a lead on additional related projects within the Department or Firm as assigned.
  • Assisting the Associate Director with team management and contributing to the development and advancement of the early tenure marketing team members.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with lawyers at all levels, including firm leadership.
  • Strong written communication abilities with a proven track record of clear and impactful documentation.
  • Demonstrated project management and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • In-depth understanding of the needs and expectations of law firms, and capability to adapt to an environment with shifting priorities and diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and manage competing demands effectively.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work.

Experience

  • University degree.
  • 5-7 years of experience in professional services, legal preferred.
  • 2+ years of team management experience preferred.
  • Exceptional in Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word PowerPoint).
  • Experience with strategic business development planning and pitching, with transactional knowledge preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $160-180k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
