Based in New York, you will be a Senior Manager, Client Development for the Marketing department. This position will drive the growth of our business and support lawyers with their marketing initiatives.

For either a grouping of practices or region, you will build and manage all client development. In this work you will write and implement the business plan including target lists, high impact client teams, publishing and speaking opportunities. On an annual basis you will conduct a W/L analysis and own the practice budget.

For either a grouping of practices, industries or region, you will lead the delivery of multiple business pitches, suggesting the go to market approach and how to position the Firm to win while ensuring the content is up to date and accurate. You will take a critical eye every effort, ensuring we present the right capabilities and team. You will direct efforts to cascade new information about capabilities and client wins through marketing materials including practice group descriptions and attorney biographies. You will be responsible for lawyer biographies of your group.

You will lead client continuing legal education events, taking ownership of all logistics related to program (virtual and in-person, as possible). You will collaborate with relevant colleagues and stakeholders to ensure an outstanding experience for our clients and a seamless delivery.

In your role, you will represent the global department at practice and regional meetings. Providing an update on the area you lead, as well as cascading information on global department initiatives and implementing the related partner training.

Additionally, you will support department initiatives and own projects in line with your strengths and passions.

This role reports to the Director of Client Development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead client development for groups of practices, industries and/or regions.
  • Lead a select set of client teams, driving the group to create an exceptional experience for the client. Set the agenda and cadence for decision making. Present internal analysis and make suggestions for the approach. Take responsibility for summarizing outcomes and driving action items to completion.
  • Oversee preparation of and, as necessary, prepare yourself client development materials for business pitching. Collaborate with the proposals team RFP responses for your practices, industries or regions. In doing so, work in PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Draft and maintain practice-specific marketing materials, including collaborating with the content and intelligence teams to facilitate any updates to the experience database.
  • Structure and harness the practice, industry and/or office information flow on client wins – you will provide input on client-ready matter summaries, select relevant tags and update the database and materials. You will take responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of the set.
  • Bring a creative and critical eye to the effectiveness of all digital channels, collaborating with colleagues on the communications, content, technology and creative teams.
  • Oversee client continuing legal education events, ensuring a strategic approach is taken to invitations, production and follow ups.
  • Working with individuals, support business development planning by overseeing target list management, identifying opportunities for thought leadership (speaking, writing), suggesting client events, supporting social media efforts and other strategic initiatives. Take responsibility for summarizing outcomes and driving action items to completion.
  • Stay current on market intelligence, as a tool to support individual pitch efforts and practice area or region strategic projects. Create a point of view on the competitive landscape and act as a resource to practice, industry and office leaders by presenting updates on this as appropriate.
  • Work with the CRM team to ensure high quality client contact data is maintained. Lead efforts to keep partners up to date on when key contacts advance or make changes.
  • Take responsibility for the growth, development and advancement of the early tenure marketing team members.

Experience

  • University degree
  • 8+ years of experience in professional services, legal preferred
  • 2+ years of team management experience, with direct reporting lines

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $190-210k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
