Harper Gernet-Girard is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She currently practices with the firm’s Litigation Department.
Ms. Gernet-Girard represents diverse clients in education, technology, real estate, sports, and entertainment. For example, she recently represented a for-profit educational institution against False Claims Act allegations brought by a former employee. The Southern District of Florida granted Gibson Dunn’s motion for summary judgment and dismissed all claims. Ms. Gernet-Girard also recently represented Boston-based AEW in an action stemming from a real estate development joint venture, in which the plaintiffs sought almost $12 billion in damages. After a multi-week bench trial on AEW’s motion for terminating sanctions, the Court granted AEW’s motion, finding that the plaintiffs had engaged in the forgery of key contracts, committed perjury, and engaged in widespread evidence destruction in an effort to cover up the wrongdoing.
Ms. Gernet-Girard graduated from Smith College with a degree in Philosophy in 2008 and from the USC Gould School of Law in 2015. Ms. Gernet-Girard is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice law before the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
