Mark Handley is an English-qualified Solicitor-Advocate in the London office of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher. He is a member of the firm’s Dispute Resolution, International Arbitration, and White Collar Defence and Investigations Groups.
Mr. Handley specialises in complex commercial disputes. He has worked on matters before the courts of England, the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar, Jersey, the Dubai International Financial Centre, India, Italy, France, and Singapore, and on arbitrations under the UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, LMAA and ICSID Rules.
Mr. Handley has practiced in a broad range of sectors including: financial services, oil and gas, trusts, transport, administrative law, aviation, shipping, and general commercial. He also has extensive experience of civil fraud and appellate matters.
Mr. Handley has significant experience in advising on the UK’s anti-corruption legislation including the Bribery Act, and the UK and EU’s financial and trade sanctions regimes. This expertise is alongside other white collar, compliance and corporate investigations work. His experience ranges over the energy, infrastructure, telecoms, media, financial services, insurance, retail, tourism and petrochemical industries.
Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Mr. Handley trained and practised at a Magic Circle firm, before joining the London office of a major US law firm.
Mr. Handley is recognised in the Administrative and Public Law category of The Legal 500 UK 2015 as having “superior case and team management skills”.
Mr. Handley has represented pro bono clients in multi-track and fast-track proceedings in the Swindon County Court, the West London County Court, and the Bow County Court.
