Eric Hornbeck is an associate in the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He is a member of the Privacy, Cybersecurity and Data Innovation practice group.
Eric advises clients on a variety issues related to technology, privacy, and consumer protection, including responding to federal and state regulatory investigations; drafting terms of service, privacy policies, and other agreements; defending clients in civil litigation; and counseling clients on new product launches and data protection compliance. He also maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in immigration and civil rights matters. He is an International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Certified Information Privacy Professional for both Europe and the United States (CIPP/E and CIPP/US).
Prior to joining the firm, Eric served as a law clerk to the Honorable Nancy L. Moritz of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Eric earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Fordham University School of Law, where he received the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award. He earned his Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from Ohio University. Prior to becoming an attorney, Eric worked as a journalist covering legal and business news.
He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
