Shaalu Mehra is a partner in the Palo Alto office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Mr. Mehra is a member of the firm’s Corporate Department and the Co-Chair of the firm’s Technology Transactions Group. Mr. Mehra practices in the area of technology transactions, with particular focus on IP licensing and counseling, patent portfolio strategy, IP-focused mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other corporate transactions. He also represents investors and technology companies in venture finance transactions, and serves as outside general counsel to venture-funded technology startups.
Mr. Mehra has received numerous public recognitions as a leading technology lawyer. He has been recognized in the Chambers Guide each year since 2007, and was named one of California’s Top Twenty Attorneys Under Forty by the Daily Journal in 2010. Mr. Mehra has also received recognitions from the Legal 500, Corporate Counsel and the IAOP. He was named one of Silicon Valley’s Forty Under Forty by the Silicon Valley Business Journal in 2008.
Mr. Mehra speaks frequently at international conferences regarding technology law, including programs sponsored by the Association of Corporate Counsel, Open Source Business Conference, LinuxWorld, ITechLaw, Stanford University, Boalt Hall, the University of Washington, the University of San Francisco, Law Seminars International, TiE, NASABA and the Silicon Valley Association of General Counsel.
He has authored pieces and has been cited on technology law topics in publications such as ComputerWorld, Compliance Week, Financial Week, Bloomberg, Information Week, Inside Counsel, E-Commerce Times, CIO.com, NetworkWorld.com and InfoWorld.
Mr. Mehra received his law degree in 1998 from Columbia University. He earned an M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1995 and a B.S. in Physics from University of Notre Dame in 1992.
