Eva Michaels is an associate in the Denver office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She practices in the firm’s Litigation Department and is a member of the White Collar Defense and Investigations, FDA and Health Care, and FCPA practice groups. Ms. Michaels received a 2021 Best Lawyers: Ones To Watch recognition for Health Care Law.
Ms. Michaels has substantial experience with internal and government investigations, including civil and criminal investigations by the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, the Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Ms. Michaels has represented companies in significant U.S. and international white collar matters, including:
Ms. Michaels also has experience advising companies on compliance programs and related FCPA and health care fraud and abuse risks, and she has advised companies with regard to privacy and cybersecurity issues.
Ms. Michaels maintains an active pro bono practice, and has been awarded the Firm’s Frank Wheat Award for excellence in pro bono service. Among other matters, she has represented a non-profit organization in a promissory estoppel case against the City and County of Denver, in which she and her colleagues successfully pursued summary judgment and subsequent appellate proceedings, including a successful grant of certiorari to the Colorado Supreme Court, and a favorable ruling from the same. She continues to advise that organization in various additional matters. Ms. Michaels also represents individuals in applying for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and asylum.
Ms. Michaels received her law degree in 2015 from Duke Law School, where she graduated cum laude. She was a Lead Editor of the Duke Journal of Comparative and International Law and an Executive Board Member of the Duke Health Law Society. Ms. Michaels graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis in 2011 with Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Psychology and a minor in Public Health.
