Matthew P. Porcelli is an associate in the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He is a member of Gibson Dunn’s Business Restructuring and Reorganization Practice Group.
Mr. Porcelli’s practice focuses on representing secured creditors, agents and lenders in syndicated lending groups, distressed debt investors (including hedge funds and private equity firms), ad hoc lender groups, trustees, debtors, debtor-in-possession lenders, and other interested parties in complex chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings across various industries. Mr. Porcelli also has experience in complex bankruptcy and securities litigation disputes.
Mr. Porcelli earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, in 2013 from the New York University School of Law, where he was named a Florence Allen Scholar and elected to the Order of the Coif. While at NYU, he served as an Executive Editor of the New York University Journal of Law and Business. Mr. Porcelli received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and English from Boston College in 2006, where he graduated cum laude and was named a member of the Order of the Cross and Crown. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Porcelli worked for four years as a structured products analyst specializing in collateralized debt obligations and asset-backed securities at Bear, Stearns & Co. and a distressed debt hedge fund.
From 2013 to 2014, Mr. Porcelli served as a law clerk to the Honorable P. Kevin Castel of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Mr. Porcelli is admitted to practice in the States of New York and New Jersey and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
