Kat Ryzewska is an associate in the Century City office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She currently practices with the firm’s Litigation and Labor & Employment Departments.
Ms. Ryzewska handles a full range of labor and employment matters under both state and federal law, including class action and individual employment litigation, defending clients against discrimination, retaliation, misclassification and wage & hour claims. She also advises employers in matters involving reductions in force, family and medical leave, enforcement of non-solicitation and non-competition covenants, independent contractor/common law employee status, and other employment-related matters. She regularly advises clients on their personnel policies and employee handbooks, as well as severance agreements, nondisclosure and confidentiality agreements, and employment contracts.
Ms. Ryzewska also handles a variety of other litigation matters, including insurance, real estate, sports & entertainment, law firm defense, intellectual property and antitrust matters. Ms. Ryzewska has substantial courtroom experience, including in state court and private arbitration.
In 2023, Ms. Ryzewska was recognized as a Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America™ in Energy Law.
Ms. Ryzewska earned her law degree cum laude in 2013 from the University of Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude in Political Science and Classical Studies in 2011 from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to attending the University of Illinois, Ms. Ryzewska served as a Supply Operations Clerk in the United States Marine Corps (2003-2007). During her service, Ms. Ryzewska served in Iraq, where she was stationed in Al Taqqadum, and provided support for Operation Phantom Fury in neighboring Fallujah.
Ms. Ryzewska is a native Polish speaker. She is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Central District of California, Southern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
