Gibson Dunn Wins Victory for Young Boy from Honduras

Since March 2016, Gibson Dunn has represented OV, a 12-year-old boy from Honduras abandoned by both of his parents. OV and his remaining family became the target of ongoing gang violence, culminating in the murder and disappearance of multiple relatives and loved ones. By September of 2016, Gibson Dunn successfully secured legal guardianship and predicate factual findings for OV, making him eligible to apply for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). In August of 2017, USCIS granted OV's petition for SIJS, and in September of 2017, the Immigration Court granted Gibson Dunn's motion for termination of removal proceedings, ending the ongoing threat of removal for OV. OV is currently living happily in the United States with his uncle and attending middle school, where his favorite subject is math. Gibson Dunn associates Eugene J. Chao, Eun Sung Lim, and partner Jeffery C. Krause handled OV's case from the start, with assistance from KIND.
