Gibson Dunn Secures Dismissal of Eviction Lawsuit Against Pro Bono Elderly Clients Following Bench TrialĀ

On October 24, 2017, Gibson Dunn attorneys conducted a bench trial in the D.C. Superior Court Landlord & Tenant Branch. The firm defended an elderly couple against an eviction lawsuit brought by their landlord. The elderly couple had previously sued the landlord over housing code violations in the rental unit. At trial, Gibson Dunn presented evidence that the landlord's attempt to evict the couple was retaliation for the previous lawsuit. The judge found that the landlord had retaliated against the defendants in violation of D.C. law and dismissed the eviction action.

Gibson Dunn associates Steve Dent and Wendy Miller conducted the trial under the guidance of Drew Tulumello and Lissa Percopo. Associates Will Lawrence and Ray Moss assisted in the trial preparation.
