First Star Launches in the UK With Help From Gibson Dunn’s London Office

Jessica Sullivan and Nigel Stacey in the London Office recently began working for First Star Inc. – an entity related to Everyone Deserves a Roof – to help them incorporate a charitable entity in the United Kingdom. First Star UK is looking to replicate what First Star Inc. is already doing in the United States, by partnering with UK universities to set up four year schemes for 14-18 year olds in care. The children stay at the university for six weeks each summer (for the four years), forming relationship with the other students and “mentors” and being taught academic and life skills courses. They also visit the university one or two Saturdays every year for the during term time. The ultimate aim is to encourage them into further education. The firm has already been very involved in a variety of pro bono projects for First Star in the United States, and looks forward to working with them in the United Kingdom as well.
