Gibson Dunn Assists with Merger of U.K. Charities

Gibson Dunn recently assisted the Association of Young People with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (“M.E.”) (“AYME”), a national registered charity who provided support to both children and young people with M.E. and aimed to improve their quality of life. AYME was recognized as a charity with a “personal touch”; however they were determined to offer a broader range of services with a deeper impact. As a smaller charity they could not achieve this reach alone due financial constraints and therefore sought to merge with Action for M.E., a larger charity also committed to assisting those with M.E. Gibson Dunn assisted AYME in all aspects of negotiating and effecting the merger. Following the merger, Gibson Dunn are ensuring that all consequent steps, such as de-listing AYME as both a company and a registered charity, are completed. Nicholas Aleksander, Amy Kennedy, Sarika Rabheru, Joseph Emly, Kate Meils and Shannon Pepper all worked on the matter.
