George Sampas Honored as Dealmaker of the Year at New York Legal Awards

George Sampas, Co-Chair of Gibson Dunn’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group, has been honored by the New York Law Journal with its Dealmaker of the Year award at the 2026 New York Legal Awards.
Asked what qualities make a great dealmaker, George said, “It’s a combination of the following: listening closely to your client and understanding the business goals, doing your best to understand what your counterparty is trying to achieve, understanding your and your counterparty’s leverage, consistency in messaging, experience, and judgment.”
The awards were presented on September 3 in New York.
