Global Restructuring Review

Gibson Dunn has been named LME Firm of the Year at the 2026 Global Restructuring Review (GRR) Awards. The firm is the first recipient of the award, which GRR introduced this year to reflect changing market practice in restructuring and the growing importance of liability management exercises (LMEs).

The recognition highlights the global reach of the firm’s Business Restructuring and Reorganization Practice Group.

The BRR group advises many of the world’s largest and most active credit investors on the newest and most innovative structures in the market. Its lawyers in New York, London, and Paris have been involved in virtually every significant LME of the past several years, often as lead counsel to the most influential creditor groups. They are increasingly carrying that experience into Europe.

Highlights of the team’s recent LME and restructuring work include:

  • Quest Software: Counsel to an ad hoc group of lenders in a cutting-edge LME. The deal included a first-out new money facility, tiered deleveraging exchanges, and significant creditor protections.
  • Zayo: Lead counsel to an ad hoc group of lenders and noteholders in an $8.5 billion pro rata amend and extend. More than 99.8% of debtholders participated, and the deal delivered greatly enhanced LME protections.
  • Klöckner Pentaplast: Lead counsel to an ad hoc group of secured lenders. The team advised on the first cooperation agreement in a mid-market European transaction, ahead of a restructuring that eliminated approximately €1.3 billion of debt.

The award builds on the firm’s recent recognition as the #1 creditor-side LME advisor by Debtwire, Octus, and 9fin and as Creditor Law Firm of the Year – Europe at the 2025 GRR Awards.
