Business Development Specialist – Transactional

Based in the Los Angeles or San Francisco office, the Business Development Specialist will support the Real Estate, Land Use, and REIT practices, as well as the Hospitality industry group. The role will be responsible for driving the development and maintenance of collateral materials including bespoke pitch documents, standardized pitch decks, opportunity ready deal lists, matter descriptions, and other client-facing content.

Working closely with the Business Development Manager and the broader domestic and international team, the Specialist will also proactively contribute to visibility and client relationship management activities including conferences, sponsorships and client-facing events.

This role reports to the Business Development Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and marketing efforts for assigned practices and/or regions as well as providing support for individual partner business objectives.
  • Developing and maintaining collateral including standardized pitch decks, opportunity ready deal lists, matter descriptions and other applicable content.
  • Coordinating directory and awards submissions (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500, Law 360 etc.) for assigned practices and industries.
  • Supporting related practice and individual lawyer visibility initiatives such as conferences, sponsorships, speaking opportunities, professional association memberships, and other opportunities.
  • Providing guidance and support for client relationship activities including client events, relationship reviews, opportunity tracking and other related efforts.
  • Collaborating with the broader BD team and the Market Intelligence team on client targeting efforts and research reports, supporting both individual pitches and practice area strategic projects.
  • Working with the CRM team, Market Intelligence, and Directories teams to ensure high quality client data is maintained for relevant deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with lawyers at all levels of seniority.
  • Strong written, communication, project management and time management skills.
  • Solid understanding of the needs and expectations of law firms and the ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities and many constituents.
  • Ability to work under pressure and outside business hours as needed.
  • Exceptional in Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word PowerPoint).
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Experience

  • University degree required.
  • Specialists require 3-5+ years of experience in professional services, preferable in legal or other client-facing environments.
  • Experience creating and developing business pitches or learning programs.
  • Experience with CRM systems such as InterAction or Salesforce are preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $100-115k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
