International Tax Manager

Based in the London office, the International Tax Manager will support Firm-wide international tax compliance and advisory work, focusing on the Firm’s offices outside the US (i.e. Europe, Middle East, and Asia)
This role reports to the Senior Manager, International Tax. In addition, you will collaborate with colleagues in the Firm’s Global Tax Department, International Operations team, Global Partners, Finance team members, and Human Resources colleagues.
External contacts include global tax advisors, Partners’ accountants and tax authorities.
Responsibilities include:
- Advising on the domestic and international tax considerations relating to cross-border transactions, including ad hoc queries on VAT/GST and withholding tax.
- Ensuring compliance with the Firm’s transfer pricing obligations, including preparation / review of transfer pricing documentation for the Firm’s non-US offices.
- Manage the Firm’s non-US tax compliance requirements (e.g. tax returns, TP filings etc.) ensuring timely submission.
- Advising on global mobility issues, including permanent establishment.
- Managing non-US tax inquiries and tax audits in collaboration with the relevant Finance teams.
- Tax research projects e.g. relating to updates to tax laws and regulations affecting the partnership in the relevant jurisdictions, including briefing advisors.
- Working with the Global Tax Department, the Chief of International Operations and the Director of Administration & International Operations on the domestic / international tax considerations relating to various special projects.
- Driving process improvements.
- Working with the Finance & Accounting teams Firm-wide, as required, to ensure tax positions are properly factored.
- Working with tax advisors, as and when needed, including managing costs and value add.
Qualifications
- Solid experience with international taxation, ideally in a global partnership.
- Capable of managing multiple assignments and related deadlines.
- Possess strong analytical skills and a methodical, detail-oriented approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to brief, and critically assess advice received from global tax advisors.
- Must have a ‘can do’ attitude and be willing to do what it takes to meet tight deadlines.
Experience
- 5+ years of solid international tax experience with strong experience in international taxation, ideally in a global Big 4 Accounting Firm and/or a Multinational Law Firm partnership.
- ACA/ACCA/CTA qualification desirable.
- Experience as an effective team member, ideally involving working with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience of researching overseas tax laws / regulations and applying them to practical situations.
