Based in Los Angeles, New York, or Washington, D.C., the Leave of Absence Assistant is responsible for administering employee leave and return to work processes, ensuring a smooth process for colleagues while adhering to legal requirements and company policies. This role involves coordinating with HR, business leaders, employees and attorneys, and our third party leave and workers comp administrators.

This role reports to the Director of Benefits.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as a primary resource for LOA inquires, including, but not limited to FMLA, state and local leave laws, medical, military, and personal leaves.
  • Process all leave of absence cases timely and accurately in HRIS and Leave Management system including gathering and completing required document, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as qualifying under FMLA, state or local leave laws and requesting medical certification if appropriate.
  • Assist employees with all questions related to the Firm’s leave of absence program, procedure, and policy as well as guidance on any applicable state programs and/or income replacement plans.
  • Prepare and send LOA communications, including notices and forms in compliance with FMLA, state or local requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication occurs between the employee, Human Resources and Management.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations.
  • Perform other duties assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Experience

  • Strong knowledge of leave laws (FMLA, ADA, etc.) and company policies.
  • HRIS experience a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $60-65k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
