Based in the London office and Hong Kong office, the Pricing Specialist will be a key contributor in billing rates and special fee arrangement administration as well as financial analytics on legal matters. The candidate should drive to provide attorneys and clients with the highest-quality customer service by becoming a subject-matter expert in all pricing related matters. The candidate must be very flexible and highly committed to quality in order to establish and maintain an excellent working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.

This role reports to the Pricing Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing key pricing metrics for existing matters to provide partners with actionable insights.
  • Providing scenario analysis/forecasting to support key pricing decisions.
  • Developing pricing models to assist attorneys with establishing budgets and seeking necessary internal approvals.
  • Reviewing existing/historical firm matters that may provide a baseline for billing attorneys in developing budgets for new matters.
  • Support client pitches, onboarding, and portfolio management, ensuring accurate rate information is captured and consistently reflected in client pitches.
  • Managing tight deadlines for client pricing renewals.
  • Overseeing maintenance of the firm’s rates and special fee arrangements database.
  • Analyze financial data and market trends to support pricing strategy.
  • Contribute to process improvement projects, leveraging data and automation to streamline operations.

Qualifications

  • General understanding of the fundamental elements of pricing.
  • Must be a proactive, self-starter who understands the details and can integrate them into a much larger strategic context.
  • Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities.
  • Must have a strong customer focus, be responsive, work well under pressure, and continually strive for efficiency and excellence.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability is required.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work with large volumes of data and possess advanced proficiency in Excel (i.e. formulas, macros, pivots, data manipulation).
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of the firm’s internal and personnel affairs and client information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills are required to build and maintain effective relationships with senior management, attorneys, and staff.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Preferred fields of study include accounting, finance, economics, business, or mathematics.
  • A minimum of 2 years of commercial work experience is required.
  • Experience in pricing or law firm/professional services is a plus.
