Based in New York, the Senior Manager, Vendor Services will oversee and manage the service delivery from the firm’s key technology vendors. Initially, in partnership with the firm’s dedicated document production services provider, this position will focus on managing and improving the firm’s service offerings in this area. The role will expand to assist the Information Systems (IS) function more broadly and manage relationships with other critical external service providers.
This position is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational relationship between Gibson Dunn and the firm’s dedicated document production services provider and will serve as the central point of contact, ensuring that services meet the firm’s quality standards, business needs, and turnaround expectations. The role focuses on service delivery optimization, relationship stewardship, issue resolution, and continuous improvement across document production workflows.
This role reports to the Director, Technology Solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Acting as the primary liaison between Gibson Dunn and the firm’s IS external service providers.
- Facilitating regular check-ins, service reviews, and performance updates.
- Ensuring alignment of vendor services with the firm’s standards, culture, and strategic priorities.
- Monitoring quality, timeliness, and accuracy of deliverables.
- Developing and maintaining KPIs and SLAs to track service performance.
- Proactively addressing and resolving service disruptions, delays, or escalations.
- Collaborating with internal teams to ensure document services align with workflows and security requirements.
- Coordinating special projects, large-volume jobs, or sensitive document production needs.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance work scoping, efficiency, quality, or cost-effectiveness.
- Recommending and helping implement best practices in document production and vendor management.
- Tracking all metrics in pursuit of continuous improvement to enhance document production processes.
- Supporting onboarding and education of internal teams on document production protocols.
- Ensuring internal stakeholders understand and utilize vendor capabilities effectively.
- Deploying the latest firm-approved AI tools to optimize document production processes and improve efficiency.
- Adhering to all contemporary best practice Information Security controls as laid out by the relevant teams at Gibson Dunn.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of the legal industry (and/or relevant professional services sector) and the evolving demands of clients.
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate and high-quality documents with meticulous attention to detail. This includes ensuring that all documents are free from errors and meet the firm’s standards.
- Strong, demonstrable experience in driving operational excellence of document production across multiple geo-regions and time zones.
- A strong understanding of project management skills to help external service providers deliver multiple document production projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of services.
- An ability to help surface important data and visualize it for the Gibson Dunn leadership team to make critical decisions on how to continually improve operations.
- A visible desire to gain an understanding of the legal services world, the forces at work within it and the unfolding roles of legal tech, Artificial Intelligence (AI), process reengineering and data science.
- Ability to maintain a culture of outstanding communication to all stakeholders for the key members of the team.
- An understanding of the project sponsorship and stakeholder management, portfolio governance and associated processes that review, accept and promote project work.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, inspire respect, and foster a culture of engagement and teamwork to deliver exceptional results.

Experience
- University degree.
- 6+ years of senior technology leadership experience either within or externally servicing a Professional Services firm (law firm environment preferred).
- 6+ years of experience in document production services, preferably within the legal industry. This includes extensive experience in delivering redlines, proofreading, table of authorities, table of contents, transcription and translation, PowerPoint decks.
- Experience using document management tools and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and other legal-specific document production tools such as iManage and the Litera product lines.
- Experience in deploying the latest AI tools to optimize document production processes and improve efficiency.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $190-215k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
