Corporate Staff Attorney (Hong Kong)
Hong Kong
Job Summary
Role Overview
An exciting Staff Attorney opportunity has arisen to join the Transactional team in our Hong Kong office, with a particular focus on Funds, Private Equity and Corporate M&A matters.
We are seeking a high-calibre Hong Kong-qualified Attorney with strong transactional experience and a desire to focus on Funds, Private Equity and/or Corporate M&A transactions. The successful candidate will work on a broad range of matters for our leading Funds and Corporate practices and will support partners and associates on sophisticated domestic and cross-border transactions.
This role is well suited to an attorney who is a strong technical executor, enjoys working closely with partners and deal teams on active transactions, and is able to provide high-quality transactional support in a fast-paced environment.
Candidates must be Hong Kong-qualified with training in high quality transactional environments, demonstrating sound judgment, strong drafting skills and a practical, detail-oriented approach to transactional matters.
The successful candidate will typically:
• Support private M&A, private equity and/or fund related transactions, including due diligence, transaction management and execution
• Work with private equity sponsors, asset managers and institutional investors
• Support cross border matters within international deal teams
• Demonstrate strong drafting skills, attention to detail and sound commercial judgment
• Operate effectively in fast paced, low leverage teams
• Be qualified in Hong Kong, from a top tier transactional practice
We would also be interested in candidates who have recently qualified into a transactional team, or who are due to qualify and have undertaken a heavily transactional focused training contract. For strong performers, there may be longer term progression opportunities.
The Team
Our Transactional practice operates with a low-leverage model, enabling close partner engagement, early responsibility and meaningful exposure to clients and key aspects of transactions.
The Hong Kong Funds and Corporate team, led by Albert Cho (Funds) and Tyler Cohen (Corporate), advises private equity sponsors, asset managers, sovereign wealth funds, strategic investors, financial institutions and corporates on a broad range of transactional matters. This includes private fund formation, private equity investments, M&A transactions, joint ventures, co-investments and other strategic transactions across Asia and internationally.
The practice is highly integrated with Gibson Dunn’s global platform and frequently works with colleagues across the firm’s U.S., European, Middle East and Asia-Pacific offices on complex, cross-border matters.
