International Arbitration – Singapore

Singapore

Job Summary

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Gibson Dunn’s International Arbitration practice in Asia at the start of a significant build. We are looking to hire a Senior Associate or Of Counsel, and Associates at the 2–6 PQE level.

You will act on high-value, complex international arbitrations across the region and globally, including commercial and construction disputes under all the major arbitral rules, and investment treaty arbitrations for both investors and states.

This is a rare opportunity for an entrepreneurial lawyer to help shape a new team from the ground up. Business development forms an integral part of these roles, and you will be expected to play an active part in building the practice’s profile in the market, including through client development, conferences and events.

The Senior Associate / Of Counsel will take a leading role on matters, working closely with the partner leading the practice, and will play a central part in growing the team. The Associates will have early responsibility, direct client contact and significant partner exposure as the team is built.

The team will work closely with the firm’s global International Arbitration Practice Group, and with colleagues across the firm’s offices in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the US.

Role Requirements

The successful candidates will:

  • Be qualified in a common law jurisdiction
  • Have an outstanding academic record, including strong law school grades
  • Have a track record on complex, high-value international arbitrations (or complex commercial litigation) that demonstrates real technical depth
  • Be genuinely motivated by the opportunity to be part of a new team, with the energy and appetite to help build a practice, including through business development and market presence
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical, drafting and advocacy skills

For the Senior Associate / Counsel role, proficiency in a regional language, such as Japanese, Korean or Mandarin, would be helpful.

We welcome applications from candidates in other markets, including London, New York, Australia and Hong Kong, who are looking to relocate to Singapore.
