Holly Alderton

Associate Attorney

Holly Alderton is an English law qualified Associate in the Dubai office of Gibson Dunn and a member of the firm’s Financial Regulatory Practice Group.

Holly has experience advising governments, regulators, fund managers, commercial and investment banks, payment service providers, FinTechs and digital asset service providers on a range of complex legal, regulatory and commercial issues in the UAE. Holly’s practice spans the full lifecycle of regulated businesses, from structuring market entry and licensing applications to advising on ongoing regulatory compliance, commercial arrangements and product development. She regularly engages with UAE regulators and has extensive knowledge of the UAE’s onshore and financial free zone regulatory frameworks, particularly in the payments and digital assets sectors.

Holly has been involved in internal investigations, regulatory correspondence and defence of clients in enforcement proceedings, and regularly assists with remediation initiatives, strengthened compliance frameworks and the coordination of regulatory risk across multiple jurisdictions.

She completed her bachelor’s degree in history at University College London in 2021 before completing her Graduate Diploma of Law and Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in London. Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Holly completed her training contract at an international law firm in London which included a six-month secondment in Dubai.
