Véronique de Hemmer Gudme is of counsel in the Paris office of Gibson Dunn and a member of the Investment Funds Practice Group.
She has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial regulation of private equity and fund formation. Véronique specializes in all areas of private equity, private funds and fund structuring, and advises on asset management regulation across France and Continental Europe. She regularly counsels asset management entities on regulatory matters, both at the management company level and in respect of the investment funds under management.
Véronique actively participates in the regulatory work carried out in France and across Europe in the field of asset management and fund regulation. She is a member of the legal committee of France Invest, the French private equity association, and of the legal and regulatory committee of Invest Europe.
She joined Gibson Dunn in 2026. Prior to that, Véronique was of counsel and Head of Regulatory Affairs in the Paris office of a Magic Circle firm, which she joined in 2015, having previously served as Head of Regulatory Affairs at SJ Berwin.
Earlier in her career, Véronique advised the Thyssen Elevators industrial group on its external growth transactions before joining Natixis Private Equity, the financial engineering subsidiary of the Banque Populaire Group, as legal manager, where she handled private equity transactions, fund formation, and the development of the firm's legal and tax know-how. In 2008, France Invest entrusted her with the management of its legal and tax matters.
Véronique has been a lecturer at Université Paris Dauphine since 2003.
Véronique is admitted to the Paris Bar.
She speaks French and English.
