Melissa W. Kopit is an associate in the Washington, DC office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She is a member of the Global Finance Practice Group and the Transportation and Space Practice Group.
Ms. Kopit focuses her practice on corporate and financial transactions, with a focus on asset finance and leasing transactions in particular involving commercial and business aircraft, helicopters and general equipment assets. She advises lenders, underwriters, borrowers, lessors, lessees, equity participants and other financiers in a wide range of cross-border and domestic transactions. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Kopit was a member of the Global Transportation Finance team at Vedder Price P.C.
Ms. Kopit is a member of the Board and is the 2022 Treasurer of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law. She also serves on the Women’s Council and on the Air, Rail & Marine Subcommittee of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association. Ms. Kopit regularly speaks and writes on developments in the transportation leasing and finance industry.
Ms. Kopit received her law degree from George Washington University Law School in 2014, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Political Science in 2009 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
