Ravinder Mattu

Ravinder Mattu is a Registered Foreign Lawyer (England & Wales) and an of counsel in both the Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong offices. He is a member of the firm’s global Strategic Sourcing and Commercial Transactions Practice Group.

Ravinder has spent the past decade advising clients on a wide range of technology, data protection, general commercial, and intellectual property matters across numerous jurisdictions, including the UK, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, China, and Hong Kong. His experience of working in both private practice and in-house (including as a data protection officer) allows him to provide input on key strategic decisions when trying to find an appropriate balance between compliance and commercial viability.

Ravinder was named a “Rising Star” by the Legal 500 for TMT work in the UAE and is trained and certified on ISO/IEC 42001 (an international standard that specifies requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an AI management systems).

Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Ravinder practiced in the Abu Dhabi office of another elite global law firm and worked in-house at a world leading AI and cloud computing company. He read Ancient History at the University of Birmingham before earning a Bachelor of Laws in 2011. Ravinder is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi and speaks basic spoken Mandarin.
