Advait V. Ramanan

Advait V. Ramanan is an associate in the San Francisco office of Gibson Dunn. He is a member of the firm's Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Data Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, Intellectual Property, and Mergers and Acquisitions practice groups. His practice focuses on data privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence issues, with an emphasis on strategic product counseling and complex corporate transactions.

Advait advises acquirers, targets, and financial sponsors in mergers and acquisitions, tender offers, and venture and growth financings. He conducts data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI due diligence, prepares diligence memoranda, and drafts and negotiates related representations and warranties, data processing agreements, and disclosure schedules. He also supports representation and warranty insurance underwriting and has substantial deal execution experience across signing, closing, and post-closing matters.

Advait maintains an active pro bono practice, advising nonprofit organizations on data privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence matters and representing individuals in immigration proceedings.

Advait earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School, where he served as an Associate Editor of the Michigan Business & Entrepreneurial Law Review and advised emerging companies in the Entrepreneurship Clinic. During law school, he was Co-President of the American Constitution Society and the South Asian Law Students Association. He received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Political Science from the University of Georgia, where he served as Vice President of the Georgia Debate Union and won the American Debate Association National Championship and the Dartmouth Round Robin.

Advait is admitted to practice in the State of California and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
