Humzah Q. Yazdani is an Of Counsel in the Houston office of Gibson Dunn. Humzah advises energy companies, sponsors, and investors on a wide range of transactional and commercial matters, with a practice spanning both conventional and new energy sectors. His work encompasses project development, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and complex commercial arrangements across wind, solar, battery storage, CCUS, LNG, and oil and gas. Drawing on deep experience across traditional and energy-transition industries, Humzah provides clients with a grounded, commercial perspective on the opportunities and challenges that define today's global energy markets.
Humzah serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the Tulane Energy Law & Policy Center and sits on the Center's Global Research Council, where he co-leads research and education initiatives on global LNG project development and markets. He previously held the MD Anderson Research Fellowship at the Institute for Transnational Law (2019–2020), where his work examined carbon pricing mechanisms and the role of ancillary policies in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Humzah earned his LL.M. in Global Energy and Environmental Law from The University of Texas School of Law on a Fulbright scholarship awarded by the U.S. Department of State. He holds an LL.B. from the University of London and was called to the Bar by the Honorable Society of Lincoln's Inn in 2012, following completion of the Bar Professional Training Course at BPP Law School, London.
Humzah has been recognized as a 2025 "Rising Star" by the South Asian Bar Association of Houston and a 2024 "Emerging Star" by the Institute for Energy Law. In 2020, he was among 50 Global Shapers selected worldwide to attend the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
