The recent arrival of patent litigators Nick Mathews and Erik Fountain in Dallas generated prominent media attention from leading legal and industry publications, highlighting the firm’s momentum in Dallas.

The Texas Lawbook headlined, “Gibson Dunn Powers Up IP Practice,” noting that Nick and Eric join “[f]resh off their third trial defense win in a row in the Eastern District of Texas.” TLB further reported that “former…colleagues say gaining Mathews and Fountain is a ‘coup’ for Gibson Dunn.”

“’We will be able to put together collectively the best trial team for major patent disputes in the country,’ Mathews said of joining forces with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher in an interview,” reported Bloomberg Law.

Managing IP noted, “Strength plus strength equals more strength,” reporting, “Mathews and Fountain said they have accumulated years of Texas trial knowledge, which they are excited to bring to Gibson Dunn. At the same time, the duo told Managing IP that Gibson Dunn’s global presence was a large drawing factor for the lawyers.”

Additionally, Texas Lawyer wrote in their coverage, “The pair had worked alongside Gibson Dunn on past cases, and Mathews described the move as ‘organic.’ ‘More and more of these patent cases are having to be tried in matters where the stakes are gigantic, so putting forward the best trial teams is more and more important,’ Mathews said.”
