In a profile published after he was named a Rising Star by Law360 [PDF], partner Connor Sullivan reflected on the biggest case of his career so far — representing Tinder founders in a $2 billion lawsuit claiming the dating app’s stockholders deliberately tanked the value of their stock options. The suit lasted for years and settled the night before closing arguments at trial, with his clients securing $441 million.

“It was a very good example of the overlap between — and this is really what I love most about what I do — the overlap between the media and entertainment business and the technology business,” Connor said.

Connor went on to trace his interest in media and entertainment from watching Turner Classic Movies with his parents as a child through to his current work representing media, entertainment, and technology companies as a litigator.

Connor also discussed his recent work successfully arguing the motion to dismiss a defamation claim brought by Sean “Diddy” Combs against NBCUniversal and Peacock TV, and successfully winning a complete victory in favor of OpenAI in what is believed to be the first defamation case arising from generative artificial intelligence.
