Based in Los Angeles, Dallas, or New York, the Event Planner will be responsible for supporting a range of office, regional and firmwide marketing and client engagement initiatives designed to elevate the firm’s profile and help connect lawyers with clients. The Event Planner plays an active role in learning about the service offering, lawyers and clients of the office/region and works closely with colleagues across offices and functions to coordinate a range of events.

This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Client Events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning, coordinating and executing internal and client events including closing dinners, receptions, CLE and professional programs, hospitality and entertainment events, branded giveaways and special programs.
  • Partnering with business development leads, Partners, and other stakeholders to ensure event objectives are aligned with business priorities and act as project manager to execute events.
  • Creating and distributing invitations and processing registrations.
  • Managing event logistics- venue selection, catering, A/V, décor, materials, and on-site coordination.
  • Coordinating production of event materials.
  • Preparing and managing event timelines, budgets and post-event reporting using Gibson Dunn Events team processes and guidelines.
  • Ensuring all events are consistent with firm brand standards and client service expectations.
  • Sourcing, negotiating, and maintaining strong relationships with preferred vendors, including restaurants, venues, and hospitality suppliers.
  • Managing and updating office-specific event planning and execution reference materials (e.g., restaurant guides).

Qualifications

  • High emotional intelligence (EQ) and executive presence; skilled at interacting with senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and client-focused tone.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Creative, solutions-oriented thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and detail-oriented under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for on-site event support as needed.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in event planning within a professional services environment; legal industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); strong aptitude for tech platforms and event tools; working knowledge of Vuture preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in executing strategic, high-touch client events from concept to completion.

Compensation & Benefits:

The hourly compensation rate for this position is $57-67/hr. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
