Partner Jordan Estes recently spoke to Law360 about working as a female prosecutor, how gender inclusivity improves case outcomes, her commitment to elevating and mentoring young women in white collar criminal law, and how she mentors young women lawyers at Gibson Dunn today. Her advice includes: develop leadership skills early on, take advantage of opportunities as they come up, and speak up. “You really have to find your voice,” Jordan says: “before [a] meeting, figure out what you’re going to say so that you have a voice in the room.”

Jordan also shares some keen observations about the advantages of including women in trial teams — actually, of all forms of inclusivity. “Having more women on a team benefits really everybody in the profession,” she said. “What I think is most useful is having a gender inclusive team, or inclusivity of all types. If you have different voices speaking on a trial team, you’re more likely to connect with a greater portion of the jury. It’s also really important on the defense side to make sure members of Gen Z are taking a leading role, because they know how that generation thinks.”
