Partner Karin Portlock was quoted by Law360 [PDF] after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to review a Tenth Circuit decision denying a former Tulsa police officer qualified immunity from a civil rights lawsuit alleging the officer used excessive force when she shot and killed an unarmed man. Karin is representing the estate of Terence Crutcher, the man who was shot and killed.
“We are thrilled by the decision; we think it’s a victory for civil rights and police accountability,” Karin said. She said the decision reiterates “the fundamental principles of the Fourth Amendment and the circumstances that require officers be held accountable.”
