Anitha Reddy is a partner in Gibson Dunn’s Litigation Practice Group. Her practice concentrates on complex commercial litigation and the representation of corporations and directors in litigation arising from M&A transactions, corporate governance disputes, derivative and class actions asserting claims of fiduciary breach, and securities class actions. She frequently advises boards of directors regarding the litigation implications of major transactions and fiduciary duties respecting oversight of corporate legal compliance efforts.
Anitha has played an instrumental role in many precedent-setting corporate law decisions. Those include Corwin v. KKR Financial Holdings, reaffirming stockholder approval as a shield against judicial scrutiny of a transaction; United Food & Commercial Workers Union v. Zuckerberg, adopting a new framework for evaluating the sufficiency of derivative claims; Cleveland Bakers and Teamsters Pension Fund v. Bezos, confirming the high bar for pleading bad-faith claims against independent directors for approval of corporate transactions. She was also part of the team that litigated Twitter’s successful suit to compel the closing of its $44 billion acquisition and represented the directors of Meta in derivative litigation arising from the Cambridge Analytica controversy. Anitha is currently representing the directors of Fox in derivative litigation arising from the settlement of the Dominion defamation suit and Silver Lake in fiduciary and appraisal litigation arising from its take-private acquisition of Endeavor.*
Anitha’s recent experience in complex commercial litigation includes the representation of the Cleveland Browns in the successful resolution of their dispute with the City of Cleveland in Ohio state and federal court over their move to a new home stadium. She also represented Switzerland in defeating a suit brought by former Credit Suisse noteholders in the Southern District of New York, avoiding billions in losses to the Swiss government.
Anitha has been recognized for her expertise in securities litigation in Chambers and Partners, with clients describing her as “strategic, calm and thoughtful under pressure” and possessing an “incredible legal mind.” She has been repeatedly recognized by Lawdragon as one of the 500 Leading Litigators in America.
Anitha received her A.B. from Stanford, magna cum laude, and her J.D. from Stanford Law School, where she was Managing Editor of the Stanford Law Review. After law school, she clerked for Judge John Gleeson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, Judge Pierre N. Leval of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court.
Anitha is a member of the board of directors of the Center for Reproductive Rights, a not-for-profit organization committed to using litigation, policy, and advocacy work to advance reproductive rights as fundamental human rights.
