Senior of counsel Ronald Kirk appeared on Fox Business’s “The Claman Countdown” to discuss the economic impact of the proposed 50% tariffs on Canadian imports, potential retaliation from Canada, and the impact on key stock sectors. Ronald said that “the purpose of most of our trade agreements is to reduce cost and put the decision in the hands of the consumer, whether it’s a business or a family.”
He added that the atmosphere in Washington, D.C. after the November elections has the potential to bring change: “The only thing that may bring this to a halt is when we get past the elections in November and Congress realizes it has the right and responsibility to control and dictate U.S. trade policy, then Congress will step in.”
