The Am Law Litigation Daily named Matthew D. McGill as its Litigator of the Week [PDF] for his success on behalf of BlueMountain Capital Management LLC in major bondholders’ challenge to a Puerto Rico debt restructuring law. On July 6, 2015, the First Circuit unanimously affirmed the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico’s injunction that the federal Bankruptcy Code preempts the Commonwealth’s recently enacted Public Corporations Debt Enforcement and Recovery Act.
